A Door to History

A Venetian Front Stoop, From the Canal

A Door to History
Original Photo by Lloyd Duhon.

I found this deep indigo, weathered door on our first trip to Venice, Italy. My wife and I were in a small boat, slowly moving down the canal. The salt air was pervasive and a pleasant June breeze pushed away any heat from the Mediterranean sun.

The boat swayed gently, rocking us in nature’s rhythmic fashion. Our bored Capitano simply chattered away in Italian on his cell phone, ignoring my movements as I aimed the camera to capture the many unique sights of this eclectic waterway.

We passed this door along that path and I knew I had to capture the beautiful color.
