Catalyst Circle V4 Platform Statement

I have been nominated, and have accepted the nomination to run for Catalyst Circle V4. As a part of the nomination process, prospective Circle representatives must provide a platform statement.

Do you have more than 6 months of experience in Project Catalyst?

Yes. I joined Project Catalyst during Fund 6, around August of 2021. https://cardano.ideascale.com/c/profile/3095432/

Describe the Community Roles in which you have participated at Project Catalyst (e.g. Voter, Proposer, PA, vPA, Challenge Team, etc.)

I have participated as a Voter, a Proposer who was funded, and completed the funded project. I have performed the PA role. I host a Catalyst after town hall meeting with the DripDropz team focused on topics of entrepreneurship to help community projects gain skills that will help them succeed with the development of the businesses that will come from their Catalyst proposals. I have evaluated hundreds of project proposals for Catalyst, and spoken extensively on my findings in public.

What key ideas or issues would you like to champion as a representative at the Catalyst Circle ?

I am seeking to improve agency coupled with accountability for those seeking to use the Catalyst funding for their businesses/projects. I want to ensure that projects which have the proper combination of desire and skill bubble to the top of the process and receive the funding that they request, and deliver the results that they promise.

I believe that process improvements placed at the beginning of the Catalyst funding process will ensure high quality, highly desirable projects will be placed before the voting community. This improvement to the overall Catalyst user experience will touch all stake holders and improve the quality of outcomes across the entire Catalyst funding process.

  • Project teams will have a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Proposal Assessment and Quality Assurance will have a more direct, earlier role, with better bi-directional communication with projects.
  • Voters will have a simpler decision process with fewer options, but of higher quality.
  • Challenge Teams will have fewer projects, but higher caliber, with teams ready to complete the tasks promised.
  • The Cardano community will benefit from improved results from the transaction fee funded treasury and a richer ecosystem that welcomes a wider audience to our space.

How do you intend to measure your engagement?

I will measure engagement through producing recordings and/or written reports on the meetings and engagements that I perform as a circle representative. I am visible and active in the community currently, and I anticipate that will only increase if elected. I intend full transparency/recording of all public meetings, and Chatham house rules for one-to-one meetings.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know as to why you would be a good fit for this seat on the Circle?

As a community member who works to support other Catalyst participants, I will strive to hear every unique voice that wishes to improve the Catalyst process. It is my goal to ensure the agency of all participants, and accountability to the broader community for a well maintained treasury fund.

In my daily tasks I have to absorb opinions, technical data, regulatory requirements, and community feedback. I convert those interactions into readable, actionable information that I share with the teams that I work with. I feel this skill will be equally valuable to the Catalyst community.
