Droperator Delivery Data

A Successful Conclusion for the Pernis Pilot Program

The Pernis Pilot Program was a resounding success!

With a combination of quick work from the team and the 10 Pilot Droperator Stake Pool Operators, we battle tested the Droperator program for DripDropz and found some promising results.

What is this?

If you are unfamiliar with the Droperator program, I have written about the slowness of the network, and the need to shrink the interaction window previously. So head over to those articles to catch up if you need to.

A Marked Improvement

I’m not going to keep you in suspense. The bottom line is, the pilot program was a resounding success. The Transaction backlog shrunk faster, and never grew to the same height, while the average user received their tokens in a more timely manner than in previous epochs.

The fast ramp up, and very slow decline of the mempool backlog from a previous epoch. The backlog here continued for several days.

The above log capture was from late January. Without the Droperators ability to find our larger transactions, the mempool grew rapidly, and only slowly declined as demand reduced, and the backlog was able to find ways on to the chain. During that time frame, users experienced a 24 to 48 hour delay in receipt of their tokens.

Mempool after the Droperators pilot program started.

In this current epoch, we did see a similar ramp up of demand, but while the January data had a backlog that lasted days, this time the transactions were caught up, and backlog eliminated within a few hours. No user waited more than a few hours to get their tokens delivered.

Were there other complications?

Ultimately, the Cardano network is meant to thrive even in a high demand environment. Our transactions got on queue, and on chain in a reasonable time frame, and there were no issues uncovered that negatively impacted the flow of traffic on the blockchain.

What’s Next?

We’re so pleased with the results of the small test sample. Now we’re going to open up the program to all of the other applicants, and continue to onboard the other stake pools who have signed up. If you’re a stake pool operator who has not yet signed up, fill out our form. The form will remain active until March 1.

We will scale up this program and find the optimal level of Droperators to keep the Cardano network and your DripDropz transactions moving smoothly. When we have more data from the expanded testing, we’ll be sure to update here.
